Using music to advance access to higher education.

1 Year Ago Today…

…we were anxiously arriving at the Global Technology Preparatory School in East Harlem, NY setting up for our very first concert. It’s amazing that it’s been a whole year since we kicked off the tour. It’s even more amazing that what started as an idea has manifested into a movement that continues to gain support from people and organizations around the country. Thank you all so much for believing in our mission to use music to advance access to higher education and provide a creative space for communities to support their youth.

Over the course of this year, we’ve seen Kindergartners hula hoop like pros, 3rd graders dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller as if they’d learned the moves from MJ himself, singers of all ages belt out lyrics like legends, shy 6th graders take the stage as co-hosts and find their voice, student leadership teams rally behind the concept that learning and pursuing your dreams is COOL and most importantly — we’ve seen communities come together and PACK OUT auditoriums and gymnasiums in the name of supporting their children, discovering new ways for them to further their learning and encouraging them to continue doing what they love.

The best part is - we are living out our dreams by giving students across the country the platform to share their gifts, the skills to emerge as leaders, the outlets to further their learning and the courage to pursue their dreams.

We’ve been quietly building and further developing our brand over the past few months and have so much in store for the 2012-2013 school year and the years ahead (perhaps in a town near you). On behalf of the Hall Pass Tour team, from the very bottom of all of our hearts, thank you.
